Project Description

The use of remotely piloted aircraft (commonly referred to as drones) is a new tool for remote monitoring to assist land managers to better track their land. This project has explored the practical applications of lightweight (under 3Kg) multi-rotor units in Australian conditions.

A number of uses have already been identified such as:

  • checking on stock during floods
  • checking remote water points
  • getting an aerial perspective of the landscape and its layout
  • in crop monitoring and much much more
